So far on this newsletter, we have expressed our integral spiritual worldview in some essays and poems. We have been concerned however if we have been expressing the truths we have discovered in a way that is not accessible to some. We have desired to lay bare all the essential components of our worldview, for the sake of ease-of-reference and ease-of-study, for the benefit of all intelligent sentient beings. Moreover, there is much good in laying out one’s beliefs in a didactic manner. If the basics of a belief system cannot be laid out didactically it cannot be trusted.
Thus, we have written a sort of Confession of Faith of the ScythianBro newsletter. We will be referring to it in the future and exploring each of these essential concepts in greater depth. To an extent we already have. We will edit this article over the months and years to come so that if we write an article exploring these concepts in greater depth we will link it here.
Though we sincerely believe in all that is elucidated below and aim to practice it in our daily lives as best as we can, we do not cling to any of the essential concepts listed below dogmatically. Should our beliefs change this article will be edited in a way that will make this known how and why.
We have summarized the worldview that informs ScythianBro into 33 essential concepts described as succinctly as we can, with most only requiring a small paragraph. When necessary we have added footnotes for further clarification. There isn’t anything special about the number 33, and we weren’t planning on arriving at any specific number when we began systematically counting our most important beliefs, but we feel this is a good, strong, auspicious number. These 33 concepts are sub-divided into three categories: Metaphysics, Cosmology, and Elements of Dharmic Culture.
Let us begin to reveal to you the Everlasting Dharma, the underlying philosophy of the cosmos itself, insofar as we understand it. Any errors here are purely my own. Any truths I have discovered here by naught else but the grace of God1.
I. METAPHYSICS
Panentheistic Monotheism. The Supreme God2 is the self-existent uncaused cause of the universe. He freely willed to create the universe and the souls of all who inhabit it emanationistically. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent. He is eternal and infinite. He is perfectly holy and sovereign over all. He is transcendent, immanent, transcendentally immanent, and immanently transcendental3. Serving, loving, and knowing Him is the telos for all intelligent sentient beings.
We are Spirits. All sentient beings other than God are qualitatively lesser than Him. They are spirits of pure consciousness who are having a particular experience embodied in a certain way such as in the form of a human, animal, god or angel, plant, etc. in accordance with their own desires, their Karma and God’s Will. During a particular incarnation they tend to be highly identified with whatever body and ego they happen to possess at that time, but this identification is ultimately illusory and does not override their true identity as God’s Spirit-Children. He is our substantial source (and thus rightly called our Father) as well as the sustainer of our ontological being at all times. From eternity past we were one with Him but in an unconscious manner, then we fell into the illusion of separation but this is all a part of His Plan so we could grow in loving, knowing, and serving Him forevermore. To be reunited with Him in a conscious manner is the goal of all intelligent sentient beings.
Though we are all alike insofar as we are all spirits, we are also all inherently unique persons. This is in keeping with God’s joy in expressing His infinite creativity. Each of us has a unique identity and relationship with God to be expressed, discovered, and developed from eternity unto eternity.
The gods serve God. God is served by various spiritual beings of great power and beauty who are nonetheless inferior to Him, known throughout the various cultures of the earth under various names as the gods or angels. These rule over specific aspects of the universe such as the material elemental forces of fire, water, etc. or more cosmic forces such as war, love, etc. They are more than worthy of reverence but our supreme devotion belongs to God alone. All of God’s Spirit-Children can potentially incarnate as a god through having a high level of virtue and wisdom..
Supremacy of Metaphysics. What is metaphysical is ontologically prior to and superior to what is physical, which is ultimately sustained by the metaphysical. The measurable is grounded upon the infinite, time emerges from eternity, and all finite beings have their source in the Infinite God. There are spiritual beings and realities that cannot be perceived by the physical senses of most people, though the wise can perceive them through skill in spiritual practices, and God can make these invisible realities directly perceivable to anyone at anytime as He wills.
Dharma and Karma. There is an underlying structure of law & order that is inherent in the intrinsic essence of the universe and of Being itself that we call Dharma4, which has its origin as an emanation of God. The observable physical laws of the universe like gravity are the grossest manifestation of Dharma, a subtler manifestation are the unchanging and inexorable moral laws of karma. Moral universal absolutes such as the value of piety, compassion, patience, wisdom, and justice (among other virtues) are as much a part of the fundamental realities of the universe as gravity, etc. A cultivation of a strong moral character brings one more in harmony with the nature of reality.
Good and “Evil.” As God made the universe out of His own overflowing gracious goodness, all things are ultimately good, though this may not seem readily apparent at the time to those of us caught up in the illusion of ego and its accompanying experience of time. Evil is not something that qualitatively exists as the opposite antagonistic force of good. All of what we think of as evil is merely a privation of something good that was meant to be present but isn’t as a result of a freely chosen bad decision.
Freedom. Free Will is as fundamentally intrinsic to units of pure consciousness such as ourselves as wetness is to water. Freedom is a central existential reality for God’s Spirit-Children. We all have the ability to choose our destiny through our thoughts, words, and actions. A good choice is one that is in harmony with Dharma. A good choice advances us further on the path to spiritual enlightenment and results in happiness in this life and the next, a bad choice does the opposite. As we do good choices we become more Divine and in harmony with The Dharma, and of course the opposite is the case with bad choice. Free Will is dangerous, of course, because it necessarily entails the possibility of making bad choices. But it is good for good to be chosen freely, and so God gives us the possibility to choose good freely. The goodness of this more than makes up for the evilness of bad choices.
Causality. Nothing existent other than God exists without an antecedent cause. Thus nothing that ever happens is ever ultimately meaningless or wholly disconnected from other events as in a vacuum. God is the beginning and end of the great chain of causality, aside from The Divine nothing has the cause of its own existence within itself and thus is no more than a conditioned effect of something else which is itself a conditioned effect and so on and so forth until we arrive back at God who is the very depth and summit of Being.
Reality and Illusion. Everything that exists only for a short time and has its existence dependent on something itself dependent on something else can be said to exist in an only illusory way. Thus, in a sense God is the only reality. Our own selves are real only insofar as they are rooted in our true identity as God’s Spirit-Children: one with Him from eternity past in an unconscious manner, now under the illusion of separation, and who are rightly seeking to be one with Him again in a conscious manner forevermore. All other identities and pursuits are illusory because they are transient, unsatisfying, and empty of essential (non-conditioned) reality.
But this doesn’t mean illusory existence is of no value. Illusory existence has its purpose for the sake of play, love, adventure, and other activities that are enjoyable in-and-of-themselves, as pleasant dreams. When our souls are one with God we shall enjoy the illusion of conditioned existence with Him and other spiritually enlightened souls as we please in a far more heightened way than we can now, but our ultimate bliss, peace, and awe will always only ever be found in Him alone.Energy. The interplay of energies emanating from God result in the myriad forms of non-sentient and sentient things, the latter being the guises that God’s Spirit-Children can take. God’s energies ultimately can never be truly destroyed or go “out of being” but only ever change their form, thus they are always ultimately conserved. Energies change forms based on how sentient beings freely interact with them. No matter what form the energies take, even if they take very destructive forms, all energies will ultimately maintain their integrity as energies of God and return to Him. Originally all energies were one with God, and will be again.
II. COSMOLOGY
Divine Imaging. All reality is seen as a reflection of God, even if only imperfectly at the lower levels. This can be summed up in that grand maxim which can never be repeated enough: “As Above, So Below”
Hierarchy of Being. Nearness to God determines one’s position in the cosmic hierarchy in which every sentient being in all the universe has its proper place. To guide and care for those beneath you on the hierarchy and respect those above you is the essence of justice. Under God are the gods, followed by Man, then animals, then the demons. Humans are hierarchically arranged into castes based on their natural inclinations: The philosophical mystics, followed by warriors, followed by merchants, followed by labourers, followed by the criminal. In Indo-Aryan terms we would call this Brahmin, kshatriya, vaishya, shudra, and chandala. More complex and beautiful animals like whales, tigers, elephants, and eagles occupy a greater position on the hierarchy and thus are more worthy of respect than mosquitoes and maggots. There are hierarchies among the gods as well. Among demons, the hierarchy is inverted so that the worst and furthest from God among them is the highest. Any inversion and subversion of the natural hierarchy is demonic in nature. As human societies decay, we witness the levelling and inversion of natural hierarchies of justice.
Reincarnation and Spiritual Evolution. Our spirit has transmigrated/reincarnated into many different forms before taking its present form. Through freely choosing virtue and growing in wisdom, we ascend the hierarchy of being and can incarnate as higher types of humans in future births. We may even incarnate as angelic gods of magnificent power, beauty, and wisdom who seek to uplift others to their level. Through doing bad deeds and failing to control our passions we descend the hierarchy of being by incarnating as animals, or through particularly vile deeds we become horrific and malefic demons who seek to drag others down with them. Even the gods can descend the hierarchy. But when we realize our oneness with God we become confirmed in a high station from whence we shall no longer descend.
After our death, we are judged by God who holds us accountable for all of our actions, words, and thoughts. He has the final say in determining our next incarnation, but we have a certain degree of autonomy in choosing our next birth based on the preferences of our own nature and can negotiate with Him on how we will fulfill our karmic punishment or enjoy our karmic reward.
The higher one’s degree of wisdom the more freedom they have in choosing their own incarnation: Freely chosen good actions result in more freedom. But the unwise do not have as much freedom in determining where they go. It has to be like this because most souls would choose to just go to a Heaven-Realm, and most who deserve to go to a Hell-Realm would not make the choice to incarnate there as Justice demands.
The spiritually enlightened have the grace of absolute freedom in choosing their incarnations before God, and many such souls incarnate here on Earth to lead us back to God.Threefold Universe. There are many domains in the universe which broadly fit into three categories: The Heavens, The Earths, and The Hells. The Heavens are realms of incredible beauty and purity that are most fit for the happiness of intelligent beings, and they can be further sub-divided into two categories: 1) Temporary Heavens where one can incarnate through accumulation of good deeds before returning to Earth after one’s good deeds have been used up, where most of the gods dwell and other beings who though good have yet to achieve full spiritual enlightenment. 2) Eternal Heavens which are those realms of the universe that are dearest to God where only those who have become confirmed in their spiritual enlightenment and thus freed from bondage to illusion can dwell forevermore, never again to wander other realms or reincarnate into lesser forms. This type of Heaven is our true home, we all have a dim memory of it from before we began reincarnating. In The Heavens one can enjoy bliss and peace far beyond our ability to even imagine.
The Earths are the realms where beings can spiritually grow in virtue and wisdom by following The Dharma and worshipping God. It is a spiritual battlefield where beings from the heavens and the hells fight over the fate of the souls inhabiting this middling world. It is a school of trials and error where sentient beings can gradually come to realization of their life’s purpose in becoming gods themselves by serving God. There are many earths like ours throughout the vast universe.
The Hells are the realms where those who have done grievously bad deeds are punished in ways that are too terrible for us to even be able to imagine, and they stay there for as long as justice demands. No being lives in The Hells forever but from the subjective point of view of their inhabitants it may seem that way! When the negative Karma that lead to a spirit incarnating here has been used up, they are once again given a chance to incarnate on Earth with a clean slate and can once more attempt to ascend the hierarchy of being. On occasion, God will permit inhabitants of The Hells to haunt The Earths for the sake of testing the inhabitants. All of evil’s attempts to drag goodness down to its level will ultimately be subverted to bring about more good in accordance with God’s plans.
Within each category of realm there are greater and lesser domains, so that there are many Heavens of ever-increasing beatitude and many Hells of ever-increasing misery. When one’s thoughts, words, and actions are aligned in a certain way one can get foretastes of the Heavens or Hells they could incarnate in if they do not change their ways. So it is that these realms are both psychological states of mind and literal geographical places in the cosmos.Cyclicality of the Cosmos. The ever-turning cycles of nature such as the rotation of the planets, the changing of the seasons, the rise and fall of civilizations, the process of life, death, and rebirth, are reflected in grand cycles of time on the epochal scale which include the Satya Yuga (Golden Age), Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga, and Kali Yuga (Dark Age). We are currently in a Dark Age. Each dark age ends with a climactic world-cleansing cataclysm appropriate to the evils of that time which purifies the planet and wipes out all traces of the civilizations that existed on it during that time, thus setting the stage for a new Golden Age to begin with a pristinely pure and restored world. The last of these cataclysms was a global flood. As the cycle of time rolls on humans progressively fall out of step with The Dharma thus leading to decay on all levels of their being and in their environment, and as the cycle of time rises humans progressively become more in touch with The Dharma leading to flourishing at all levels of their being and in their environment.
III. ELEMENTS OF DHARMIC CULTURE.
Theocentric Focus. The worship of God is the axis upon which Dharma turns. Discerning and obeying His will is the framework of all decision-making. Celebrating Him is the central concern of all culture. Realizing our identity in Him and making that manifest, growing our relationship with Him, and understanding Him is the ultimate meaning of existence for all intelligent sentient beings.
The Original and Eternal Religion. All of the doctrines taught above and below were known plainly to the ancient ancestors of all people many millennia ago. There was one original religion, one original community, and one original culture from whence came all other religions, communities, and cultures. The practices, teachings, etc of contemporary religions only have validity insofar as they correlate with this original religion, as they often do, especially in the esoteric dimensions of these religions. Insofar as they don’t correlate they are useless, or even dangerous. The way to spiritual enlightenment is in following Dharma, and that is true at all times in all places everywhere including on other planets and dimensions.
Environmental Harmony and Preservationism. The natural world that God made is to be revered and lived in harmoniously. It’s always been understood that while altering wild Nature in some way is necessary for the survival of man, places of purity and natural wilderness must be preserved because these are places where God is more strongly present. God is present in Nature while not yet being reducible to Nature: In the ancient past, “pagan” cultures fell into the error of worshipping Nature instead of worshipping God who is present in Nature. Animals, especially the ones we are most dependent on for survival and the ones that are most beautiful and intelligent, must be respected even when we must kill them.
Distinction between Veneration and Worship. To venerate a being is to recognize their position in the Hierarchy of Being is higher than ours. To worship is to give ultimate love, servitude, and desire to a Being as well as to recognize that Being as our essential telos. God alone is worthy of worship, but there are many beings worthy of veneration including the gods, our ancestors, spiritual teachers, etc. Venerating such beings is an expression of justice and thus a fulfillment of Dharma. But to give worship to a being that is only due veneration is a grave injustice that will be met with Divine Punishment. We understand of course that in the end the most dangerous false idols are our bad habits, false ways of thinking, and vices.
God’s Animistic Universe. The Universe that God made is animistic - brimming with life including in places that are not often recognized. Our Earth herself, Gaia, is literally alive and has a distinct personality different from other Earths. Each tree, mountain, ocean, river, star, lake, desert, plant, continent, island, biosphere, and crystal is likewise alive with a unique spirit. These natural elements are ruled by, inhabited by, and in many ways just are spirits. These spirits of nature deserve our veneration, though worship belongs to God alone who is sovereign over all those spirits. In venerating these spirits we attract their trust, guidance, and blessings. Abrahamists made the mistake of destroying the ancient nature-cults in their zeal to get people to worship the right entity which was a mistake.
Racial Consciousness and Eugenics. Races, tribes/nations, and families are groups of Spirits incarnating together in order to pursue a specific way of life that is particular to them. They each have a collective karma to work out in addition to their own individual Karma. Each race, tribe/nation, and family has a specific task to carry out from God as does each individual and thus each people is a “Chosen People” in a sense, however not all peoples have an equally important mission because the peoples themselves are not equal. Belonging to a higher race is dependent upon having higher karma that is peculiar for that race, and this can be either lost or gained and thus a soul can incarnate in a lower race from a higher one or a higher one from a lower one though this is rare.
For example, incarnating within the Aryan/Indo-European peoples is dependent upon courage and nobility. Their mission from God was to spread the truths of Dharma and to vanquish demonic cults all over the world.
Just as a horse-breeder strives to breed better horses or a dog-breeder better dogs, so too does a healthy and sane culture strive to breed better humans by practicing eugenics: Marriages should be determined by physical, intellectual, and moral fitness and not just be based on mere money or lust. Eugenic pairings create the right conditions for souls with higher karma to come down into our world to experience the incarnation in a good body that is their due, whereas dysgenia insures that only souls with the karma to experience an incarnation in a lowly body get to be born. Eugenics is taken extremely seriously in a genuine Dharmic culture, and this is one of the main stumbling blocks that most contemporary religions saying they are Dharmic have, that they do not understand this. Race mixing, especially of higher races with lower ones, is a grave evil.Ancestor Veneration. It is good to venerate one’s personal and racial ancestors, though worship belongs to God alone who is sovereign over all of our ancestors. In venerating our ancestors we grow in virtue, attract their guidance and blessings, and ensure prosperity for ourselves and our descendants in this world and the next. Ancestor Veneration strengthens the racial consciousness of a group of God’s spirit-children, which is good because this leads to greater cohesion in the group so that they might be able to fulfill their mission.
Theocratic Basis of Government. Legitimate political and ecclesiastical authority can only come from God, never from mere public opinion. Rulers who are bent on serving demons and violating the principles of Dharma are illegitimate rulers and it is not just to respect or obey them. The ideal ruler is one who is a Philosopher-King or Chakravartin, who cultivates the martial excellency of the warrior and the holy wisdom of the sage simultaneously. Given that the purpose of man’s existence is essentially spiritual, the true role of the State is to ensure that the fundamentals of Dharma are being followed and that enough material prosperity and security is present so that people can ensure their spiritual development. Ensuring that one’s base material needs are met is not the goal of life but merely a requisite step for it. The State can never force people to be good as goodness must be freely chosen. It is natural for the peoples to have somewhat different forms of government in accordance with their varying natures. Thus some peoples may be more inclined towards a more centralized states, and others not so but prefer a more free way of life, etc.
The Sacred City-State. Originally, people were nomadic or at least semi-nomadic and lived in tribes. When God deems it necessary for a people to establish a city as the Yugas turn, these are kept at a manageable population level lest they be blights upon Gaia’s body. The Temple is the centre of the city geographically and spiritually. A city is to be seen as sacred, governed according to Dharmic principles. Each citizen must carry out their duties for the greater good in accordance with their own nature.
Though urban and village life can be necessary, it is understood that nomadic life is actually superior to settled life for the sake of spiritual development, and for the sake of reinvigorating their citizens the city should encourage its inhabitants (especially the men) to temporarily return to nomadic life on occasion. The Sacred Home. Each family or clan must have their own God-given and God-honouring home. The property of each family or clan must be seen as sacred and respected as such for it to be received from ancestors and preserved for descendants. Property rights are of paramount importance in order to ensure the integrity of the home’s sacred character for ancestors, owners, and descendants alike.. The home is to have a shrine in it for the veneration of ancestors, nature-spirits and gods special to that family, as well as the worship of God.
Strict Gender Roles and Patriarchy. God has ordained that Men are called to be leaders, providers, and fighters. Women are called to be helpers, nurturers, and birthers. Strict and loving Patriarchy is Dharmic, and Men are meant to exercise singular authority over women. When a man and woman are married, the woman in question is understood to be as much his property as his home or his cattle. Prior to marriage, women are the properties of their fathers. Female influence must be completely void in politics and kept in check in religion. Only by being put in their proper place can either gender fulfill its purpose, thereby reaching happiness and their true potential. Any attempt at subverting the natural order between the genders, which is patriarchy, is demonic.
Tolerance for plurality of goodness, intolerance for evil. It is natural for the peoples of Earth and the various sentient beings throughout the cosmos to express the same truths described here in different ways in accordance with their varying natures, as well as to even place emphasis on one or of these truths moreso than others. God loves variety and it is pleasing to Him that the one truth is expressed in many ways. The true child of God, the true follower of Dharma, honours the truth wherever he sees it and pays no heed to sectarian strife while yet remaining true to his own culture out of a sense of integrity and loyalty. He appreciates goodness in whatever way it is expressed, and celebrates along with God the pluralities of beauty.
But the demons in their malevolent cunning may wish to take advantage of the tolerance of the righteous man, and so the true follower of God understands that evil must be correctly recognized and destroyed wherever it is seen lest it corrupt the good. The most obvious manifestation of demonic lies disguising itself as true religion are: human sacrifice (especially of children and infants), cannibalism, sexual degeneracy, excess intoxication as an end in itself during a rite, the exaltation of a tyrant as having equal status with God, materialism, and breaking any of the essential moral absolutes of Dharma. The true spirit-child of God shows total ruthlessness to these manifestations of demonic activity regardless of the social consequences and this is pleasing to God.Primacy of Revelatory Teaching and Stories. Any Dharmic culture is a community ultimately founded by God for the sake of the spiritual growth of each of its members, and to ensure that this happens God inspires sacred teachings and stories which are often later written down after having been handed down orally so that the community can always have divine guidance. Such texts include The Holy Bible, The Tao Te Ching, and The Vedas. Scriptures ultimately come from God and not from man. In times of corrupt religious authorities these can be relied upon to guide us to the truth insofar as they are interpreted correctly.
Sacred Aesthetics. Visual art, music, and dance can bring people closer to God. The divinely inspired artist communicates truths about God and the spiritual world that could not be communicated otherwise. Sacredness in art is celebrated and pursued in any healthy culture, and this manifests itself as, among other things, beautiful architecture and material cultures. As beauty is one of God’s attributes, a Dharmic Culture strives to always ensure its people are surrounded by beauty.
Science must be in harmony with Nature. Dharmic Culture seeks to pursue technological innovation that is good for Man, in harmony with Nature, and honouring to God. In his fallen condition, man cannot survive in the raw wilderness on his own: even a spear or articles of clothing are “technologies” that do not grow on trees but must be made. In fact, technological innovation is a manifestation of Man’s divine imaging nature. A Temple requires a great deal of technological innovation to build and they do not grow out of the earth like mountains: they must be made. But not all inventions are necessarily good.
War is a Way to Heaven. Any Dharmic culture understands that the one who courageously dies in battle doing God’s will, defending his people, and/or for a righteous cause achieves for himself godhood and the highest of heavens. Fallen warriors are treated with tremendous veneration as the divine guardians of their people.
Wisdom is a Way to Divinity. All philosophy and intellectualism is meant to be grounded in the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment attained through either devotional practices like prayer or contemplative practices like silent meditation in accordance with the nature of the particular individual. Through such practices we become one with God, which is the telos of human existence. Sages who have attained this and who teach it to others are treated with tremendous veneration as the divine teachers of their people.
Worship of Divine Avatars. For the sake of making Himself known that He might be more readily approached by His children, teaching The Dharma and destroying evil, God incarnates as He sees fit. Such Divine Avatars in the past include but are in no ways limited to Jesus Christ, Krishna, Rama, and Buddha. We look forward to the next incarnation who will decisively destroy evil, usher in a new Golden Age and rule over it directly. But we are careful not to fall into the delusion that such waiting is enough, as every Golden Age must itself pass away again to make way for yet more dark ages that will themselves pass away. Thus our focus is on doing the practices in this very life that will see us liberated from conditioned existence. To worship a Divine Avatar is always the same as worshipping God in His disembodied state, as God is always God whether He takes on a form or not.
May the Eternal Godhead have mercy on us and help us to internalize these truths and realize them in our very own lives. Aum / Amen.

We are particularly indebted to Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya’s work, the good people over at Atma Jyoti Ashram who run the “ocoy.org” site, Rene Guenon, and Julius Evola for being able to come up with some of these ideas regardless of specific points of difference with any of the aforementioned people.
While we certainly don’t agree with everything Abrahamism teaches or does, we are not virulently Anti-Abrahamic either. We love The God of Abraham and The God of The Bhavagad-Gita both as particular manifestations of The Supreme Being.
God is panentheistic, a doctrine that is different from PANTHEISM. Panentheism teaches that God is transcendent and immanent simultaneously. Pantheism teaches that God is merely the sum total of all immanent things, which is not true. Standard Monotheism teaches that God is only Transcendent, which is not true.
In other cultures this is called The Tao, Ma’at, Asha, Logos, etc.
Very interesting spiritual worldview! If you don't mind, how did you come to these metaphysical conclusions and why do you choose to not follow any one religion? I find your posts very interesting.
I will never thank you enough for this article.
I have spent about 3 years of my life undecided and confused about my faith between Christianity and Paganism. Such an internal struggle drove me further away from God than I like to admit.
I have prayed to Him to receive the truth, as I submitted to His will and came across your writing within the same day.
Needless to say, you have masterfully written everything which I instinctively understood, without being able to put words on it. You sir, are godsent and a gift to truth-seekers.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart ! May God bless you !
