Our Eternal Spirits, Part Two

In the first part of this series, we discussed the nature of our spirits as being one with God from endless eternities past and elucidated the philosophical nuances of this essential metaphysical reality which was divinely revealed to the Indo-Aryan Sages who wrote The Upanishads and other sacred texts. We then began to discuss how the reality of our souls being eternal and our having forgotten our true identity fits in with the Biblical story of The Fall in The Garden of Eden, and as promised, in this concluding part of the series we will conclude the story of how it is exactly that our spirits lost their sense of their true identity.

I.

Long before we had ever taken on any physical form, our Sub-Eternal1 spirits were with God. We knew that by following His Will and being tested, we would become more like Him, we would transform from child-like spirits into gods who serve God. So it was that we agreed to incarnate into this world, to become humans, as a part of this process of progressive growth. We ourselves descended into The Garden of Eden, my dear reader. It is clear from reading the text of the Book of Genesis that there is not only one man and one woman in Eden but entire tribes of primordial couples. After all, Adam’s son Cain is able to go out to find women to mate with who do not have a clear lineage connecting to his father Adam that is ever mentioned in2 the story. So, then, Adam and his wife is actually one among many of the earliest humans. There are multiple Adams and Eves in The Garden, multiple primordial men and women. What is remembered as a story about a single original couple is in reality an entire ancient primeval tribe from whence the lineages of Man today descend down through the ages.

The ancient humans were far more powerful, beautiful, and wise than humans today. Contrary to what is commonly taught, the pattern from ancient history until modern history is not evolution but devolution. Compared to his ancestors modern man is a stunted troglodyte. If you could see your distant ancestors from aeons ago you would think you were beholding a living god and you wouldn’t even be too far off the mark. The higher races of Man that exist on Earth today, such as The White Aryan Peoples of Europe, are more closely related in blood and spirit to the primeval Edenic tribes. The higher races of man occupy an elevated position among humankind precisely because they were able to maintain their primeval nobility in varying degrees, whereas the lower races have not and so they have sunk to a bestial level. All the degenerated races of the modern world are remnants of higher peoples that fell through dysgenia, miscegenation, and spiritual curses that result from severely disobeying God3.

The original Edenic tribes had a lifestyle of bliss, virtue and holiness that we foolish moderns can barely even comprehend. They each beheld God face-to-face, and communed with Him directly with no intermediary, and this is the highest fulfillment for spiritual beings like us who realize their telos through service to God. In addition to this spiritual beatitude, they had lordship over all the animals whom they could speak to as easily as they could speak to their fellow Man. Yes, all that had the breath of life enjoyed one language as members of one organic community of justice under Divine Authority. They were physically immortal and possessed with resplendent bodies that knew no blemish. When these mighty humans of the Golden Age of yore had finished the eons allotted to them on Earth, their death was but a peaceful sleep and their spirits returned to the higher spiritual realms from whence they came with no trouble. They knew no necessity as the abundance of Mother Earth provided for their needs effortlessly. Living in harmony with each other, the natural world and God they knew great peace. In Eden there was no veil separating the physical world from the spiritual. I am not even sure if the original Edenic humans would have understood there to even be a difference between the spiritual and physical world in the way that we think of it. For them these were perfectly integrated, one joyous universe for spirits like us to develop into godhood in.

The longing to return to Eden is stamped on the human heart. This innate desire can manifest itself sometimes in warped ways such as we saw in the 20th century utopian movements which ignorantly sought to restore Heaven on Earth through political revolutions, and this lead to horrific results. Perhaps you can remember what it was like to live in Eden as I describe it to you. Memories of it often come to people on a serene Summer evening. I have often had dim memories of my own time in Eden drift into my mind when I am out on a hike in the woods. But we know that paradisiacal glory of Eden, the Satya Yuga of millennia ago, is not our present day to day experience, however much we may recall it. We know that our own lives are marred by separation from God first of all and all the other myriad forms of pain that flow from that. How did that happen? Why would God permit this? How did we fall?

II.

In addition to the spirits who descended into this world to take on human form in order to grow as divine sub-creators, there was another group of spirits who rebelled against God. They were seduced by ancient forces4 of spiritual evil that are opposed to the Will of God. These malevolent ancient forces have as a result of their own freely chosen unwise actions become driven by mad unnatural desires that are wildly out of touch with the nature of reality and God’s plan. These wicked rebels, who became known in Christian-type language as demons, are at root eternal spirits just like us. There is no sharp essentialistic difference in the categories of angel, demon, spirit, human, god5 as we tend to presume but rather these are all eternal spirits just like us serving out different roles depending on the way their own actions have shaped them and the way these spirits are carrying out their unique relationship with The Supreme Being.

Yes, when a spirit freely chooses to set itself in opposition to God it gradually falls out of harmony with Him, the universe, and their very own essential being. They then degrade into a monstrosity we call a Demon in Christian-type language, though the idea of malevolent spirits is present in every culture because such spirits indeed exist. There are some spirits that have been rebelling against God for so long that they have become very horrific demons who wish to degrade everything down to their level. Some of these rebels were troubled by seeing spirit become united to flesh. They hate to see superior spirit united to inferior flesh and wish to prove that this is a bad idea by making spirits fall through temptations of the flesh. Some are troubled by the realities of free-will so they wish to enslave man to corrupt worldly systems and false religions, purportedly for their own good, but really out of a mad desire for power. Some were lead astray by a megalomaniacal desire to be God’s equal or superior, which is an ontological impossibility for spirits like us. The most dangerous of all these demons are so thoroughly twisted by passionate resentment and anguish that they wish to cause as much destruction as possible purely out of spite towards God.  What unites The Dark Powers despite their diverse origins and motivations is their hatred for all that is good, true, and beautiful, in essence their hatred for The Supreme Lord. Another trait they all share in common is that they are doomed. Fundamentally, to be opposed to The Divine Lord is madness, because there is no way that beings like us who are only ever derivative from Him could defeat Him. We cannot win against The Living Ground of Being: God6. The branches attack the root at their own peril. So these demons pose a threat to themselves first and foremost, as the Karmic blowback for their wicked deeds will come to them sooner or later. The less mercy God has on a particular spirit, the longer He will allow it to accumulate evil deeds before finally allowing it to be punished, but those whom He favours are quickly reprimanded for even a slight lapse in virtue so that they might quickly return to the upward path of godhood. So it is that people in this life who seemingly get away with wicked deeds their whole life have quite a nasty place prepared for them in Hell. I thought about this when Jacob Rothschild died.

Since defeating God is ontologically impossible because He is omnipotent and present everywhere in all things while yet transcending them, the only way that The Dark Powers can attack Him is by attacking those who are dear to Him: Us, the humans who incarnated into Eden to grow spiritually as His servants. They sought to drag us down to their level, to spite Him.
